First Annual Linden Hills Neighborhood National Night Out Party!
The bouncy-house, the brats, the volunteers, MANY volunteers, the music, the excellent vendors from the Linden Hills Farmers Market. . . . The superb salads from Upton 43. . . cookies from Great Harvest, the long line for food –
Well, it wasn’t a super long line, but it was long enough to sell out the brats! :-)
$382 dollars was split evenly between two SW groups -- Southwest High School Performing Arts Council and the SWHS Girls/Boys/and-Coed Ultimate Team -- both of whom graciously provided set-up and clean-up and concession table work. . .
Three ninth-grade girls performed a short set of acoustic numbers, singing and playing piano and guitar. . .
Heartfelt was there, providing crafts for kids and respites for grown-ups...
(Thanks to you, Lisa MacMartin for that all the other contributions you make to the community...)
Mark Settergren – of course – who donates so much to everything.
He provided grills and electrical power, and his entire parking lot. Again.
So many people came together with really short notice – and
A Good Time Was Had By All!
Or at least --- that’s the way it looked to me from the stage.
My personal highlight for the evening – YES -- was when Frank Hornstein
walked in to the party just as we in the band were playing a Bob Dylan song.
Frank literally walked into the parking lot, and within 60 seconds, he was
singing into the microphone.
We finished playing "Señor," and he stayed up with us for another number – a rousing rendition of "Gotta Serve Somebody." Thanks, Frank! I wish I could be there when you and Keith Ellison play a whole set of Dylan at the Performing Arts Council fundraiser. (Hint - - Hint -- try to get a ticket to THAT party.)
Thanks to All – who made it happen and who came to this First Annual Linden Hills Neighborhood National Night Out Party ---
Yes, we hope to do it every year!
